biography

I am concerned with the practice and processes of painting. My painting is exploratory in that I do not always have a set idea or image in mind before making a piece of work. Any preliminary ideas are transformed by the physical making process.

My process is a kind of improvised 'dialogue' between materials, intuitions and gestures which seek to inscribe personal memories, feelings and emotions.

The painted surfaces often contain elements of collage, graphic and printed marks.

The paintings are a site within which the constantly shifting impressions of places, times, people and circumstances can be located.
